It’s been a busy couple of weeks in the yes2renewables campaign. You might have seen us on 7.30 Report last Friday night, speaking at Steve Fielding’s inquiry into wind farms. We’ve been working hard to get the positive stories about wind energy into the media, at the hearings and directly in communities.
We’ve also been getting out and talking to rural communities from Waubra to Ararat about their wind farm experiences and developing our own ideas about what best practice community engagement might look like. We’ve been doing stalls to help out the Macedon Ranges community wind farm project and campaigning in the seat of Warrandyte (Environment Minister Ryan Smith’s electorate).

How to get involved in our campaign
Planning Minister Matthew Guy has announced that he intends to enact the restrictions to wind energy in spring this year, which means that we have four short months to influence Liberal party policy. A strong showing of community support for wind energy will be crucial to changing the outcome, and that’s where you come in!
What you can do:
– volunteer to be profiled on our website as a supporter of wind energy
– sign up to do letterboxing for our pro-wind postcard petition, particularly in the seat of Warrandyte, but your local area is good too (contact Ellen, see below)
– join our ‘rapid response’ group to receive alerts on quick and easy cyber actions, for example posting comments to on-line articles on wind energy. Our rapid response group is doing great work in making sure that positive voices on wind energy are being heard. Just email your email/ mobile number to Cam: firstname.lastname@example.org, with the subject line ‘rapid response’
– help us out with stalls in the Macedon Ranges or Warrandyte areas – both weekend and weekday opportunities!
– Donate to our campaign
You can contact me (Tuesday – Thursday) on 03 9419 8700 (ext 10) or via email to find out more.
